stillness

A series exploring moments of indulgence; the intimacy of both their practices and of bearing witness to them.

The viewer is invited to look on as the subject of each painting is within an act of nourishment. The subjects’ stillness betrays the actions they are amidst, challenging the viewer to infringe upon them, stirring sensuality as the viewer bears witness to subtleties otherwise intimate to the subject alone. Each figure exists within the natural environment in tandem with its elements rather than in contrast to them, furthering the intimacy of space and self. The snapshot style and enigmatic nature of the compositions evokes the fleetingness of attention typically given to such moments. stillness depicts the conversation of the mundane as indulgent and indulgence as necessity.
